Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • I am aware that if I have not yet created my ORCID code, I should do it as soon as possible. As of July 2019, EJJL will give priority to the evaluation and publication of articles written by authors with the ORCID code duly informed in the Revista database.

EJJL MANUSCRIPT STYLE AND STANDARDS

Submissions in english

The Espaço Juridico Journal of Law [EJJL] is dedicated at publishing innovative and original papers that can offer a significant contribution to the field of constitutional and human rights.

We are currently accepting submissions for online publication.

Language: English, Spanish or Brazilian portuguese

Submission by e-mail. If you are unable to submit your manuscript through the OJS/SEER system, which is strongly recomended, we may accept mailed manuscripts, exceptionally.

EJJL accepts  submissions by e-mail attachment only from abroad

Whenever submitting by e-mail, please use the article title in the subject heading of the message. In addition, please include a cover letter that provides contact information (including telephone and e-mail address).

It is imperative that manuscripts be submitted in Microsoft Word. Other word-processing programs, such as WordPerfect, can create onerous technical problems in the editing and typesetting process.

We confirm receipt of manuscripts and contact authors regarding final decisions by e-mail.  We aim to give each author a final decision within 6-8 weeks.

The authors' information should be inserted in the language of the manuscript.

Article length: minimum: 7.000 words. It must be written in a A4 paper, continuous line numbering and consecutive page numbering, illustrations and tables included.

Font: Times New Roman 12

Margins: Top and Left, 3 cm; Bottom and Right, 2 cm

Line Spacing: 1.5 cm justified

Abreviations: Define all abbreviations at first mention in the abstract and text, and again in the tables and figures. Once an abbreviation is used, it should be used throughout the entire article, except at the beginning of a sentence.

Footnotes should be limited to citations wherever possible; long, discursive footnotes are strongly discouraged.

Dates: should be written with the day first, then the month, and the year last: 18 Mar. 2000; 01 Feb. 1987.

Organize manuscripts in the following order: Cover page, title, abstract, key words, resumo, palavras-chave, introduction, development defined by sections, conclusions, acknowledgments (optional), References, Tables, and Figures.

Cover page: Manuscript must have a cover page bearing the title (keep to a maximum 15 words), Title (english and portuguese, authors' full names and affiliations. Please inform authors' affiliation as detailed as possible.

Authors should select a category from the following:

1. Human rights 
2. Social rights 
3. Civil rights 

Title: English and Portuguese

Authors must not be identified in the manuscript.

Abstract: One-paragraph (150 words)

Key words: Five or six keywords.

Resumo: A Portuguese version of the Abstract is required, maximum 150 words.

Palavras-chave: Five or six keywords in portuguese. 

Introduction: usually 20-30 lines

Development defined by sections: Do not number sections or paragraphs and use sub-headings selectively.

Conclusions: Results and Discussion

References: see below.

Tables and captions to illustrations: Tables must be presented on separate pages and not included as part of the text. The captions to illustrations should be gathered together and also typed out on a separate sheet. Tables should be numbered by Roman numerals, and figures by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript at the end of the paper, after the references and on separate pages. Captions should include keys to symbols.

Figures: Please supply one set of artwork in a finished form, preferably electronically, suitable for reproduction. If this raises problems, please contact us.

APA style should be used.

References and citations should be organized in the “author, year” style.

Remember to make sure text citations match the list of references.

Authors responsibility. The authors are ultimately responsible for the accuracy of their citations. If EJJL has difficulty confirming a citation, an author may be asked to send copies of pages cited.

Submission and preparation of book reviews

Book reviews of between 1,500 and 3,000 words should be sent as an email attachment (Word or Word compatible) to the Book Reviews Editor, Cristhian Magnus De Marco, cristian.demarco@unoesc.edu.br Requirements as for articles above (including author's identification and citation). Reviews may cover more than one publication if appropriate. Headings should follow journal style, for example:

HUMAN RIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL CONTEXT

This section prioritizes the publication of studies whose normative basis are fundamental social and civil rights established in human rights treaties.

INTERNATIONAL AUTHORS: PRINCIPLED THEORY AND FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS

FUNDAMENTAL SOCIAL RIGHTS

This section prioritizes the publication of scientific studies whose main object is fundamental social rights and whose normative basis are the rights and duties established by the constitutional law. The term "Fundamental Social Rights" is adopted here in its broadest sense, as the Art. 6  of the Brazilian Constitution and includes economic, social, cultural and environmental fundamental rights.

FUNDAMENTAL CIVIL RIGHTS

This section prioritizes the publication of scientific studies whose main object is fundamental civil rights and whose normative basis are rights mainly established by the Constitutional Law. The term "Civil Fundamental Rights" is understood here in its broad sense, and encompasses individual freedoms, civil rights, civil rights.

LEADING CASES

Within this Section are preferably discussed judicial leading cases, but it is also admitted critical reviews on judicial decisions or on judicial trends in any particular issue concerned with human or constitutional rights.
