Identificação de motivos, barreiras e receios associados à busca por procedimentos estéticos entre mulheres de meia idade: um estudo transversal

Resumo

O aumento da expectativa de vida feminina no último século trouxe novos desafios e oportunidades para a saúde estética durante o envelhecimento. Apesar de cada vez mais comuns, mulheres maduras comumente apresentam estigmas e barreiras relacionadas a realização de procedimentos estéticos. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar e descrever os principais motivos, barreiras e receios associados à busca por procedimentos estéticos entre mulheres entre 40 e 60 anos de idade. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com coleta de dados online, utilizando um questionário estruturado. A amostra incluiu 79 mulheres com idade média de 47,7 anos, das quais 73,4% já haviam realizado procedimentos estéticos. Os procedimentos estéticos mais citados foram limpeza de pele, toxina botulínica, depilação a laser e peelings. Sobre os principais motivos que levaram as mulheres a buscarem procedimentos estéticos, destacou-se a busca para melhorar a aparência (n=57, 72,1%) e o desejo de melhorar a autoestima (n=41, 51,8%). Oitenta porcento das mulheres relataram ter vontade de realizar outros procedimentos estéticos que ainda nunca fizeram. Os principais receios e barreiras relatados para a realização de procedimentos foram o custo e o medo de efeitos adversos. Ainda, a confiança no profissional e a sua formação foram considerados como pontos importantes na realização de procedimentos estéticos. Conclui-se que, embora haja uma aceitação crescente dos procedimentos estéticos, muitas mulheres ainda demonstram cautela em relação à sua realização.
