Cultivating strawberries in substrate yields higher quality fruits, optimizes labor, and reduces pesticide use, in addition to facilitating plant management and harvest. The potential for interference in the electrical conductivity (EC) of the nutritive solution may offer new pest management strategies in cultivation. This study aimed to evaluate the emergence and sex ratio of D. suzukii at different stages of maturation of strawberry fruits of the San Andreas variety cultivated in substrate with varying electrical conductivities of the nutritive solution. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse with five EC treatments (0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, and 2.1 mS/cm) and four replications. Fruits were collected at three maturation stages (initial red, partial, and full) and kept under controlled conditions until the emergence of adults. The highest population density was observed in February. Electrical conductivities of 1.2 and 1.5 mS/cm significantly reduced adult emergence. The sex ratio was not affected by EC. Regardless of EC, the pest prefers to attack fruits at more advanced stages of maturation (partial and full red). Managing EC in strawberry cultivation in substrate could be an alternative for reducing damage from D. suzukii.
