Abstract

Intuitive eating has been associated with various health benefits, particularly in promoting a positive relationship between the body and food. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between intuitive eating and body image satisfaction in adults. A cross-sectional, quantitative online survey was conducted with 208 adult participants of both genders, utilizing the Intuitive Eating Scale-2, the Stunkard Silhouettes Scale, and a simplified food frequency questionnaire. A positive and moderate correlation was observed between intuitive eating and body image satisfaction (p < 0.001). Additionally, lower BMI and current silhouette scores were associated with higher intuitive eating scores (p < 0.05). The findings suggest a connection between intuitive eating and body image satisfaction, emphasizing the importance of including this topic in public health policies to mitigate the negative effects of restrictive dieting and body image dissatisfaction.
