Evidence: Bioscience, Health and Innovation is a journal created in 2001, now under responsibility of the Post-Graduation Course in Biosciences and Health of the Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina (UNOESC). The area of concentration is Interdisciplinary (Qualis B3), publishing studies focusing on different aspects of the Health Sciences.

With an Open Access policy, the journal has no costs associated with any stage of the publishing process. It publishes twice per year, continously receiving and publishing works in the Ahead of Print (AOP) modality. Besides, it has Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and International Standard Serial Number (ISSN: 1519-5287; e-ISSN: 2236-6059).

SCOPE

Evidence accepts works from various subjects within the Health Sciences, divided into three sections:

Bioscience: Works aimed towards the study of biological processes as a whole, including phenomena in organismal level or in ecological contexts.

Health: Studies focused on questions relevant to the human health. This might be on different levels, being accepted, for example, submissions based on basic science, epidemiological assessments, or case reports.

Innovation: Research with focus on development, proposal and evaluation of new techniques, solutions, and products for questions pertinent to the Health Sciences as a whole.

CATEGORY OF THE WORKS

Evidence accepts original articles, reviews, and case reports focused on different subareas within the Health Sciences.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Publications are mainly targeted towards the academic community, collaborating with the dissemination of knowledge among professors and students interested in Health Sciences. However, in accordance to Open Access philosophy, we also believe in the importance of freely accessible knowledge to the entire population.

PEER-REVIEW PROCESS

The manuscripts will be submitted to the Editorial Board for preliminary evaluation. Following an analysis of format and content, the work will be sent to at least two qualified reviewers, who will be invited via e-mail to revise the manuscript. We adopt a double-blind approach, where the reviewers are unaware of the identity of the authors and vice-versa. The reviews will then be analyzed by the editor, who will decide for (i) unconditional acceptance, (ii) rejection, or (iii) submission of a revised version, that may or may not be subjected to a new round of reviews.

Accepted manuscripts will be sent to the Editorial Board for ad referendum and communication with the author. Small text revisions might be applied by the Editorial Board, according to internal criteria and operational norms, aiming to maintain the standardization of the journal, the correct use of language, and presentation quality.

Our editorial policy defines the following categories for the evaluation of the manuscripts: content, form, originality, relevance, novelty, and adequacy to the scope.

The estimated time between submission and publication might very from four to twelve months, depending on the specificity of the theme and the difficulty to find available and qualified reviewers.

PERIODICITY

Twice per year, with continuous publication system.

Aiming at the democratization of scientific knowledge to the public, Evidence offers free-of-cost and immediate access to its content. The gratuitousness extends to the submission, evaluation, edition, and publication of the work by the authors.

Evidence allows open access to all published works, not authorizing any commercialization and/or alteration of the data. In this way, the authors remain aware of the assignment of their publication copyrights.
