Retirement: elderly expectations and needs

The man, through its work, seeks dignity and appreciation, exposing its ideas and carries them out helping with the world transformation and evolution. Therefore the retirement is seen as a kind of award for this exhausting journey, which modifies the labor routine and the life projects. The objective of this study is to identify the expectations and the needs of elderly in the arrival of the retirement. 27 students of the University of the Third Age of Chapecó -Specialization Course (UMIC) of UNOESC Chapecó. A questionnaire, elaborated by the authors, was applied, composed by questions such as: 1- Does the retirement meet your expectations and life needs? 2- Does it exist or did existed financial and project planning in relation to retirement? 3- What is your perception on the condition of being retired? The data were analyzed in a descriptive way, with relative and absolute frequency. It is observed in the results that 65.39% of respondents report that retirement does not meet expectations and needs, 59.26% did not carry out financial and project programming in relation to retirement and 77.78% are quiet about the condition of being retired. In this specific group it can be seen that the majority of the elderly did not plan for retirement, which may contribute to the high rate of elderly people who reported that retirement does not meet their expectations and needs. It should be noted that the vast majority are quiet about "being retired".
